Infrared Inspections

Drone-Mounted Infrared Technology

See What’s Hidden in
Your Building Envelope

Drone-mounted thermal cameras reveal heat loss, moisture intrusion, and insulation defects — without a single hole in your wall.

Why Building Envelope Performance Matters

The building envelope is the single biggest lever for energy efficiency — and the hardest problem to see without the right tools.

63.6%

of Canadian home energy use goes to space heating

This makes the building envelope — walls, roof, windows, and foundation — the most impactful place to invest in energy efficiency. A single infrared inspection identifies exactly where heat is escaping and what it costs you annually.

What Thermal Imaging Reveals

Infrared radiation doesn’t lie. We capture what the naked eye cannot see.

🔥

Thermal Bridging

Structural members — studs, headers, rim joists, and fasteners — conduct heat far better than insulation. Thermal bridges appear as regular high-temperature stripes in the infrared image and can account for 20–40% of total assembly heat loss.

🧊

Insulation Voids & Deficiencies

Settled, compressed, or missing insulation creates large uniform hot zones on the building exterior. Our drone survey maps the entire envelope in a single pass — voids above ceilings, within wall cavities, and at hard-to-reach building corners are all captured.

💧

Air Infiltration & Moisture

Air leaks and moisture ingress produce characteristic cold signatures around penetrations, window frames, and rooflines. Left unaddressed, moisture intrusion leads to mould growth, structural rot, and sharply elevated heating loads — all detectable early with infrared.

How an Inspection Works

Optimal results require specific thermal conditions — we coordinate timing to maximise contrast and defect visibility.

01

Survey Flight

Our DJI M30T drone systematically covers the entire building envelope — walls, roof, parapets, and penetrations. Flights are scheduled during optimal delta-T conditions (typically 10°C+ difference between interior and exterior) to maximise thermal contrast.

02

Dual-Sensor Capture

Simultaneous high-resolution visual and thermal data is captured from every angle. The thermal sensor operates at 640×512 resolution and quantifies surface temperatures across the full envelope to ±2°C accuracy, with the visual image providing exact location context.

03

Expert Analysis & Report

ANSI/ASNT-certified thermographers analyse every frame. Anomalies are catalogued, located on a building plan, photographed in both spectra, and prioritised by severity. You receive a comprehensive report with annotated imagery and a clear remediation roadmap.

Infrared Advantages

Real thermal data captured in the field — heat signatures from actual building inspections.
