Infrared Building Envelope Inspections
Drone-based thermal imaging for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential buildings in Edmonton and across Alberta.
See where your building is losing heat
Our drone-based infrared inspection delivers annotated thermal imagery, a defect priority matrix, and a costed remediation roadmap. It is the same calibrated capture that trains the CK platform — so every inspection gives you today's answers and feeds tomorrow's automation.
- Whole-envelope coverage from a single planned flight
- Interior and close-range handheld scans where the drone can't see
- Findings ranked by severity, so budgets go to the right places first

What you get
Executive summary
The condition of the envelope in plain language, with the findings that matter most up front.
Annotated imagery
Calibrated thermal and visual image pairs, each defect located and labelled on the building.
Defect priority matrix
Every finding ranked by severity and extent, so you can see at a glance what to address first.
Remediation roadmap
A costed, sequenced plan you can take to a contractor, a board, or a capital budget.
How we capture
We deploy both aerial and ground-level thermal imaging platforms to capture a complete picture of your building's thermal performance.
- Aerial thermography: Enterprise-grade drone platforms with dual RGB + thermal sensors capture your entire building envelope from every angle in a single planned flight
- Ground-level inspections: Handheld FLIR cameras for detailed interior scans, close-range exterior assessment, and hard-to-reach areas
- All-weather operation: Rated for Edmonton winters — stable imaging in extreme cold, wind, and low-light conditions
- Measurement accuracy: ±2 °C or ±2% thermal measurement accuracy per ASTM E1821 protocols
- Certified thermographers: Work performed to ANSI/ASNT CP-105 and CP-189
Common questions
How much does a thermal inspection cost?
Pricing depends on building size, complexity, and scope. A standard infrared inspection for a mid-rise commercial building typically starts in the low thousands. Contact us for a custom quote — we'll scope your project and give you a firm number before any work begins.
What time of year is best for thermal imaging?
Thermal inspections are most effective when there's a significant temperature difference between indoors and outdoors — at least 10°C. In Edmonton, this means fall through spring (October–April) is ideal. Winter inspections often produce the most dramatic and actionable results.
Do you need access inside the building?
Exterior drone inspections don't require interior access. However, for a complete assessment, we recommend a combined exterior + interior scan using handheld FLIR cameras to catch issues like air leakage paths and HVAC distribution problems that aren't visible from outside.
How is this different from a basic energy audit?
A standard energy audit reviews utility bills and equipment specs. We capture the actual thermal performance of your building envelope with calibrated imaging, revealing specific defect locations that an audit based on paperwork alone will miss. Think of it as the difference between reviewing design drawings and measuring the as-built performance.
Will this work on my building type?
We work with commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential buildings of all sizes. Our aerial platform handles buildings up to 200m in height, and our handheld cameras cover everything else — interiors, parkades, mechanical rooms, and hard-to-reach areas.
